To answer this question, we must understand a few concepts. Shopping local means more than just providing our State with great economic status and employment.

By spending money at local businesses, more businesses such as farms, banks and even service providers become more likely to utilise OTHER LOCAL BUSINESSES!

Let’s think local & see what we come up with shall we?

By zooming in on Adelaide’s community and local businesses, care factors play an important futuristic role. Locally operated and owned, neighbours who invest CARE!

This crucial part of owning a business, especially in Adelaide stimulates community values and so, customers appreciate local supply chains!

What does this mean? The more small business, the more money is donated to non-profit organisations. More is done behind the desk and just by understanding hard work delivers strong support systems for more people to interpret. Here are some ways YOU can THINK LOCAL!

Sometimes it isn’t easy to visit or try the most convenient local option however, there are more ways YOU can support just by thinking local! Trying something new is the go to start. Either going out for breakfast or dinner, try a new menu for a change! Birthdays. Everyone has one. Thinking local gifts WORKS TOO! Join the local GYM! Supporting fitness and local, what a match.Got to fix up the garden? Take a trip to your local hardware store or a local nursery! Having car troubles? Head to a local mechanic. Need more food? Search up a nearby farmers market to purchase new ingredients to impress the family for a special dinner!

Just by putting on your local thinking hat, YOU can support live and local businesses without having to spend thousands. Every small decision can improve someone else’s life, so next time your out and about! Think local. 😉

Should South Australia make Sanitary Products Free?

Scotland, oh how my heart bleeds for you. Today marks a special day that gives me great joy. Scotland has become the first country in the world to make sanitary products free!

Yes, this no joke! The Scottish Parliament have passed the bill.

So, what does this mean? Well, period products are now available to anyone who needs them! Making it a lot easier for starters AND free of charge.

Since learning about period poverty, around the world up to 500 million girls and women are going each month without proper products.

Scotland’s huge step helping to put an end to period poverty shines light on the subject.

By researching into our backyard, sorry to break the ice but period poverty DOES EXIST.

In Australia alone, 42 percent of homeless people are female.

Homeless women or not, by making sanitary products free this allows us to maintain healthy and productive ways of being for those women who cannot afford it!

Thanks to Scotland’s ground-breaking legislation, the world turns bright way round!

Second Valley is also home for some extreme sports like cliff jumping! The cliff jumping here is dangerous but quite thrilling for those adrenaline junkies.

The cliffs themselves are beautiful but please take caution when exploring as a fall would surely end your life.  Second Valley is also home to a jetty for those who love a good fish and you’re bound to find some squid and smaller fish swimming around. Second Valley is home to a magnificent pine forest and many Instagram worthy landscapes that will make everyone jealous of your stunning Insta feed. The Adelaide Set loves a trip to Second Valley and recommends it to all who don’t mind the short but amazing drive down south.

PONDIE Pondalowie Bay.

What a place! Something you would see in a Corona ad.
The bay itself is home to many spectacular landscapes.

It is situated inside the amazing Innes National Park which we recommend to all! Pondi Bay is a well-known for surfers looking for some extra power. Pondi Bay also has small fishing villages, giving you a unique look into South Australian beach coastal country life.

Accommodation ranges from little shacks to well equipped camping spots, that are perfect for those who love a good old get away. The bay itself contains a small old fishing boat that is an Insta must! A great place for taking fun photos and enjoying the rugged yet beautiful bay area.

Close to the city.

Great beach for swimming.

Lots of little shops and cafes to explore.

Stunning pine trees for that perfect Insta shot.

Amazing limestone cliffs that hug the coastline.

CARRICK – SECRET BEACH Secret beach is our Number One best beach in South Australia, and also one of SA’s most dangerous places to reach, so extreme caution, an agile body and a lack of “fear of heights” is a requirement.

The Beach itself is about a 15-minute walk/hike from the main part of north beach Carricaklinga, which starts at the top of the carpark. Secret Beach is a mix of beautiful aqua waters, white pristine sands and the seclusion of being a secret cove! It is also home to a small cave, with a famous rock wall which looks exactly like it sounds, a rock structure shaped like a barrel wave, some say it was frozen by Medusa herself. The tall striking cliff faces create an atmosphere of your own little private piece of paradise! Perfect for those trying to escape all their worries and leave all your stresses back at home. Secret beach is also home to dolphins who are known to be very fond of this area, and let me tell you right now, there is just something so magical about watching the sunset at secret beach with a pod of dolphins frolicking in the distance.

Instagram opportunities here are plentiful with numerous options and angles, no matter what, you will be bound to find a spot that will fill your feed with absolute Insta magic ooze. The energy and magic of this place speaks for itself and anyone that has a little adventure waiting to burst from their soul should 100% make there way down to this beach. I must STRESS with all my heart, please take extreme care & caution when walking/climbing to this beach as it is very dangerous to get to and there have sadly been some deaths. When you first get to the beach you will notice a small wooden cross, which is a constant reminder to take care and to look after your friends and family. Don’t rush anyone, let them take their time. I have had to walk many friends back. Beware the cliffs can create large winds and the path is extremely narrow and unforgiving. It helps if you are part-goat.

Since 2O2O has been a difficult year for all of us, I think it’s important to value the outdoors more than ever before. If you’re a University Student like me, the amount of time we spend inside or online is ridiculous enough & with summer just around the corner… well, that just speaks for itself!

Sometimes, all we need is a little scenery to help relax our bodies, mind & soul. If it’s to adjust, reconnect or even disconnect – if overlooked, I’m telling you… you’re missing out!

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus your own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.

The Places and Faces Dream.

To travel would be an awfully big adventure.

There’s no doubt, South Australia is beautiful. With exactly 983,482 square kilometres to explore and having the fifth largest population compared to the rest of Australia, that means there’s a lot of unexplored places and faces to meet. Investing in travel is investing in yourself. We travel not to escape life but for life to flow around us and that’s what @chatadelaide.blog’s about.

Whether you want to visit South Australia for fun or thinking about the big move, @chatadelaide.blog’s got you covered. Adventuring is worth while and there will always be a reason you meet people. Despite swimming within the oceans roar, rolling around in beautiful deserts or staying somewhere special overnight within South Australia’s City of Churches…

One of the biggest joys about travelling is people.

@chatadelaide.blog welcomes a new idea of bringing places and faces together. Inspired by yours truly @taydamknowles, Adelaide News Writer & Announcer for @fresh927 & Journalist for @theadelaideset, seeks to inspire you with the opportunity to see the very best of South Australia places and faces!

When you travel, sometimes it’s a tough decision on where to go and what to do. What do we eat today or how do we know if that place is any good? @chatadelaide.blog puts two and two together as when you travel and meet people, supporting local businesses becomes a given. Supporting local faces of SA no doubt creates jobs, flowing money straight through our local economy. By investing in entrepreneurship, you instantly nurture a true essence of community that supports the environment and reduces waste… and BANG we conserve energy.

Welcome to @chatadelaide.blog, the places & faces focus blog. Our mission?
